When Spain’s Balearic Islands went onto the green list on June 30, UK holidaymakers flocked to popular holiday island Ibiza. However, the holiday joy soon ended for many, with testing rules seeing tourists suddenly forced into self-isolation.

According to local reports, Ibiza’s quarantine hotel La Noria has around 87 guests currently in forced isolation.

Of them, around one third are said to be from the UK.

One of these guests is Scottish hairdresser Kimberly Mcllwham, who has described the quarantine experience as “hell” and has warned other Britons eyeing a holiday to hold off on making plans.

Sharing her experience to viral video platform TikTok, Ms Mcllwham slammed authorities for their lack of communication, and described the food she was served as “disgusting”.

Speaking to the Sunday Mail, Ms Mcllwham added: “The hotel is basic and we have to stay in our rooms. But the food is appalling.

“It’s been like hell for me and I’m desperate to get home.”

What’s more, the Scottish holidaymaker said hotel staff did not offer any insight into how long her stay would be, and said it took days before it was even confirmed she had COVID-19.

“Communication has been non-existent, I have no idea what’s going on or how long I’ve to stay,” she said.

“I will be in quarantine for ten days at least,” she explained.

“After that, I’ll need to organise a flight home and quarantine at home for ten days after Ibiza was put back on the amber list.

“I’ve not been vaccinated yet. So that takes me up to the start of August.

“It’s having a huge impact on my work and I’m having to cancel clients who were booked for when I return.”

Ms Mcllwham said: “This short trip has just turned into a nightmare.
