If you are unaware, there have been reports stating that Vidya Balan starrer Natkhat is also being considered for the Oscars. When the news of Shameless running as a possible nominee for Oscars 2021 broke out, the news quickly went viral. It was then reported that Natkhat is out of the race for the Academy Awards, but Shaan Vyas, the director of Natkhat had debunked the reports saying that Shameless has not been announced as the Oscars nominee yet. When asked Sayani about her thoughts on Natkhat also being a part of the race, the Four More Shots please actress said, “I am very excited, I haven’t seen the film, but Shaan is a very very dear friend. In fact, when I got to know that he is making this film, I messaged him saying, ‘You are finally doing it,’ because I knew he wanted to make his own film. He is a very old friend so, I was very excited for him.” Also Read – Sayani Gupta urges Shah Rukh Khan to speak up for Dalits; says, ‘Don’t just shut your ears and eyes and mouths’

Heaping praises on Vidya Balan, who features in Natkhat, Sayani added, “I think Vidya is so lovely in every film. I love her as a performer and as a human being. She is so gracious.” Since both films are in consideration, it’s at the end of the day, a competition. However, Sayani is all for celebrating Indian cinema no matter who is sent for the Academy Awards in the end. “The editor is my friend, Shweta Venkat, so, these are all friends yaar. I mean whoever goes and if any of these films end up being a part of the main entrees or winning (prays, In-sha-Allah), it would be amazing. I mean we are all part of this. And it’s a great feeling na yaar because you are ultimately a part of the same circle. It’s a nice feeling that even though it’s a short film, there’s a lot of effort that goes into making short films. I have always said that there’s no reason to look down upon short films as it is a very powerful and beautiful medium.” Also Read – From Radhika Apte to Sayani Gupta, 5 actresses who are killing it on OTT platforms

“So, yeah, for me, it’s a celebration of talent, you know at the end of the day. It’s a celebration of all kinds of content. You know, Jallikattu is now an official entry. Lijo (Jose Pellisery) is a spectacular director. And there’s just so much talent in India and I feel good to say that we are in a good time, you know people getting these kinds of opportunities. It’s important that people get the respect and the opportunities to flourish and to showcase their work.”
