When will the £20 extra payment for Universal Credit end?

Some families on Universal Credit or claiming Working Tax Credit payments were boosted by an extra £20 a week amid the coronavirus pandemic.

However, now those same families face an uncertain year ahead as the Government has failed to confirm whether the increase will last beyond April.

Charities, campaigners and MPs have been calling on the Government to retain the temporary relief after the pandemic ends.

Work and Pensions Secretary Therese Coffey said: “As the Government has done throughout the crisis, it will continue to assess how best ti support low-income families, which is why we will look at the economic and health context in the New Year.”
