Universal Credit UK: Claimants entitled to new £10 mobile phone deal - calls texts & data

Universal Credit is designed to help people who have found themselves out of work, or who are on a low income. Unfortunately, due to the impacts of COVID-19, many have been forced to reckon with losing their job or having their hours slashed. The costs of day-to-day life, though, still remain, particularly for essential items.

However, many Universal Credit households may now be entitled to receive a £10 monthly mobile phone tariff, designed to help out.

Voxi – overseen by Vodafone – is now offering a new plan intended to help those affected by the ongoing pandemic.

Under the new tariff, people can expect to receive unlimited mobile minutes, texts and data for only £10 a month.

The deal can last up to six months, with no need to sign a contract, and also eliminates a credit check.

Vodafone has said the documents will be instantly verified, which will create a quick and smooth process for customers to purchase the plan.

This sort of plan would usually cost £35 a month, and so Universal Credit claimants are receiving a 70 percent discount.

The monthly rolling contract also means customers can choose to cancel at any time.

Nick Jeffery, CEO at Vodafone UK, commented on the new release.

It has extended the free unlimited data deal for NHS staff until January 31, 2021 to provide extra help.

To be eligible for Universal Credit, one must be over the age of 18 in most circumstances, but under state pension age.

They must also be resident in the UK and have less than £16,000 in savings between themselves and a partner.

The sum is paid once a month to those who are eligible, into a bank, building society, or credit union account.

To make a claim, Britons will need to set up an online account via the Government’s website.

A claim must be submitted within 28 days of a person making their account.
