‘We chat all the time’ HRVY gushes over ‘close’ bond with Emma Raducanu amid plan to meet

Emma Raducanu hit the headlines earlier this month after she made tennis history with her US Open final win against 19-year-old Leylah Fernandez. The 18-year-old has since gathered attention from many stars including popstar HRVY. The 22-year-old singer has revealed he is “close” to Emma and claimed “we chat all the time”.

He spilled: “We’re close. We’re good friends.

“She’s just stunned about winning. I watched the match with my whole family, like the rest of the nation.

“She is a lovely girl and she makes me proud to be British.”

HRVY went on to say he hoped to play tennis with her soon.

The singer previously admitted the duo were told off by bosses for getting too close on the show.

As the last series aired during the coronavirus pandemic, participants had to keep two metres away from each other at all times.

HRVY and Maisie were pictured seemingly closer than the two-metre rule as they made their way into the studio.

Addressing the snaps, he told. PA: “I just think we were maybe slightly closer than two metres while we were talking.

“The BBC told us off and everything is all good and everyone is trying their best to maintain all the rules and regulations.”

He also previously described Maisie as “so lovely and beautiful”.

The actress told OK! Magazine the pair had been enjoying “harmless” flirting, but admitted she’d probably say no if he asked her out on a date.

“I’ve not been thinking about boys at the moment,” she added. “I haven’t had time. I’ve been liking getting to know him.“
