On Sunday evening, an intimate group of 30 gathered in Silver Lake, Los Angeles to fête the opening of SIZED, an exhibition of objects for the home and life curated by Alexander May. The exhibition, which opens June 15 and runs through June 27, features over 300 pieces from nearly 60 collaborators across 15,000 feet in a gallery near the Hollywood Forever Cemetery—including works by Michèle Lamy for Rick Owens Furniture, Vanessa Beecroft, Jordan Wolfson, and Luka Sabbat.

The soirée took place at the 1930s R.M. Schindler-designed home of Gina Correll Aglietti (co-founder of Yola Mezcal) and was co-hosted by Yola Mezcal and Sweetgreen. In attendance were SIZED collaborators like Beecroft, Sabbat, and Wolfson, plus the likes of Mia Moretti and Sophie Buhai. As guests arrived, there was a palpable excitement to be in-person again—a sentiment that reverberated throughout the night.

OFFSITE.STUDIO creative director and founder and SIZED curator Alexander May also communicated the allure of the in-person event. “The last several weeks have been a whirlwind—finalizing works with collaborators, installing the exhibition, touring collectors, welcoming friends from in and out of town,” says May. “I’m deeply grateful to my community for supporting SIZED. From our weekend of previews and cocktails, and tonight’s dinner, one thing has become clear: there’s a magic to connecting in person that can’t be replaced.”

As the group sipped on Yola Mezcal and orange wine by newly launched Jumbo Time Wines, welcome remarks were offered by Correll Aglietti and Sweetgreen co-founders Nicolas Jammet and Nathaniel Ru. “We’ve loved bringing people together through fresh, seasonal food,” explains Ru. “Food is a social experience and this is the first dinner we’ve hosted since the onset of the pandemic. It could not be taking place at a better time.”

Indeed, to kick off summer, the menu was filled with dishes like lemon cucumber with Siryan oregano served on Shoshi Watanabe x OFFSITE.STUDIO ceramics dishes—available for purchase at the SIZED exhibition. The dinner was then capped off with oat milk strawberry shortcake gelato bars with Harry’s Berries by Chef Malcolm Livingston II, formerly the pastry chef at René Redzepi’s Noma.

The night served as one of the first buzzy Los Angeles events since the pandemic. After over a year of housebound isolation, celebrating SIZED feels like it’s in step with the spirit of the times. Never before has how one surrounds themselves at home, with beautiful things and great company, mattered more.
