Buckingham Palace Just Issued an Update on Queen Elizabeth’s Health

Earlier this month, Queen Elizabeth was hospitalized for “preliminary investigations,” and advised by medical staff to rest.

“Following medical advice to rest for a few days, The Queen attended hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary investigations, returning to Windsor Castle at lunchtime today, and remains in good spirits,” reads a statement released last Thursday evening by a Buckingham Palace spokesperson. Exactly why the Queen was hospitalized was not specified, as she is entitled to medical privacy, but she was back at her desk the next day, and earlier this week, she held two virtual engagements.

Today, Buckingham Palace shared the the Queen has been advised to rest for two more weeks, but she will continue to undertake “light, desk-based duties.”

Per the Telegraph, a statement was released which reads:

“Following on from their recent advice that The Queen should rest for a few days, Her Majesty’s doctors have advised that she should continue to rest for at least the next two weeks.

The doctors have advised that Her Majesty can continue to undertake light, desk-based duties during this time, including some virtual Audiences, but not to undertake any official visits. Her Majesty regrets that this means she will be unable to attend the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday, 13th November.

However, it remains The Queen’s firm intention to be present for the National Service of Remembrance on Remembrance Sunday, on 14th November.”

Today’s news comes after a recent confirmation that the Queen will not attend the United Nations climate change conference (COP26) next month. While she won’t be there in person, she will virtually address the delegates.
