Cheapest Christmas tree: Aldi sells best-value tree for 2020
Christmas trees have traditionally been used to celebrate the big day for thousands of years. However fresh trees can be extremely expensive and for those who still haven’t purchased one yet, Which? has announced where Britons can get the most affordable.
Tesco is also selling pot-grown Nordmanns for £20, and a cut Nordmann for £25 while Homebase has various different sizes ranging between £20-£80.
Asda, B&Q and Homebase are also amongst those selling different sizes of trees with prices starting at £19.
B&Q also has a Cut Fraser Fir as well as a Cut Norway spruce on offer.
Which? also recommends checking a local garden centre to see how prices add up.
Upmarket supermarket Waitrose has small and large trees still available with prices starting at £25.
Christmas trees usually last around five weeks, but Which? has shared how you can help make them last.
They said: “The tree can come in the house during the festive period, though it’s best not to bring it indoors for long as it won’t like the warm, dry conditions.
“Check if it needs watering by putting your finger in the compost and only water if it feels dry to the touch.”
Aldi was also recently crowned the cheapest supermarket for groceries for the month of November.
The consumer group compared the prices at different supermarkets and found discount retailers Aldi and Lidl to be the cheapest.
Customers would have paid £21.28 for a trolley of 22 everyday groceries compared to £31.56 at Waitrose.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, said: “We know this Christmas is likely to be difficult for many families and so we are incredibly proud to consistently provide our customers with the best value groceries in the UK.
“We’re delighted that Aldi has been named the UK’s cheapest supermarket in not one but two independent price surveys.
“It is possible to make savings without compromising on quality; this is why millions of Brits continue to choose Aldi to do their weekly shop, and it’s why we’ll ensure we keep providing the best quality products at the best possible prices.”
