Christmas stay at New York Hotel visited by Beatles & Donald Trump costs more than £30,000
New York’s The Plaza Hotel is renowned for its festive spirit, with its 600 staff transforming the hotel into a “winter wonderland” every December. The hotel became a hub for Christmas spirit after its appearance in the 1992 blockbuster movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York which featured a scene with US President Donald Trump.
Over the years, the hotel has also been frequented by famous actors, musicians and even royalty.
According to a new Channel 4 documentary it was even favoured The Beatles.
However, a stay at this opulent property does not come cheap.
Inside the Plaza: Behind the scenes at New York’s iconic Plaza Hotel lifted the curtain on what goes into Christmas at the famous hotel, as well as revealing the eye-watering costs to enjoy such an experience.
During one scene, concierge Melody puts together a hand-crafted Home Alone welcome experience for some guests.
The package itself is said to cost “£30,000” for the Christmas scene alone.

A hotel guest named Myka confirms this. She said “The Plaza creates this magical experience that you see in movies.
“You walk into that famous revolving door you see in home alone and it is a real place and they are real people.”
Included in the package are an array of dazzling Christmas decorations akin to those in the 1992 movies, including a full-size tree complete with presents for the guests to open.
What’s more, the room is finished off with a floor piano which can be danced along to create a tune.
“We had a request about a month ago,” explained Melody.
The Plaza first opened its doors on Fifth Avenue, overlooking Central Park, in 1907.
According to the hotel website, since then, it has welcomed an array of “world leaders, dignitaries, captains of industry, Broadway legends, and Hollywood royalty.”
The hotel houses up to 400 guests and if often fully booked in the lead up to Christmas.
During their stay, visitors can also enjoy dining at five separate eateries within the property.
The Plaza is also home to an array of shops, a spa and a salon.
