Dame Barbara Windsor has passed away after battling Alzheimer’s for six years. With a successful career behind the icon, the actress made a huge fortune.
Barbara again returned for a single episode in 2014 and again a year later.
In 2015, the star secretly filmed a return to EastEnders, which was shown in 2016.
The national treasure was nominated several times for many awards including a BAFTA Award nomination for the film Sparrows Can’t Sing, and a Tony Award nomination for the 1964 Broadway production of Oh, What A Lovely War!
She was also appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2016 New Year Honours for services to charity and entertainment.

In 2000, she released an autobiography, titled All of Me, where she spoke about her childhood, her marriages and her acting career.
In her personal life, Barbara had three marriages, including to criminal Ronnie Knight.

She settled with Scott Mitchell, former actor in 2000 after the couple met eight years previous when she was 55 and he was 28.

Paying tribute to the star, Tamzin Outhwaite, who played Mel Owen in EastEnders, tweeted that she was “meant to be sleeping but can’t”, and described the actress as an icon and national treasure.
Little Britain star Matt Lucas said “it’s not an overstatement to say I think the whole country is in mourning today” and said that the actress worked “tirelessly” for charity “even when her own health was failing her”.
