Halsey Welcomes Her First Child—And Reveals Their Name

Congratulations are in order for Halsey and her partner, Alev Aydin!

On Instagram, the singer confirmed she gave birth to her first child, Ender Ridley Aydin, on July 14. She shared two photos: the first, a black and white picture of her cradling her newborn in a hospital bed while Aydin adoringly looks on. “Gratitude. For the most ‘rare’ and euphoric birth. Powered by love,” she wrote in the caption. The second shows Ender breastfeeding.

She first confirmed her pregnancy back in January, posting a snap wearing a crocheted crop top, her baby bump on full display. It was the first of many posts: throughout the last nine months, she’s frequently taken to social media with pictures documenting her pregnancy journey. In one, she humorously compared her stomach to a basketball.

Recently, she posed for the August cover of Allure. She was candid about the experience of expecting. “When this pregnancy started, I was like, ‘You’re going to do yoga and eat flaxseed. You’re going to use essential oils and hypnobirth and meditate and fucking journal every single day,’” she told writer Danielle Pergament, adding: “I have done none of those things. Zero. None. I eat cookies and had a bagel every single day for the first five months of my pregnancy.” She also revealed that, after discussions with her doctor, she stopped taking prenatal vitamins because of her extreme nausea. “I felt like such a failure,” she said.

In 2018, Halsey spoke about her diagnosis of endometriosis, and shared that she’d suffered a miscarriage while on stage performing.

Earlier this month, the singer revealed her upcoming album cover, showing her on a throne holding a baby with one breast uncovered. “This cover image celebrates pregnant and postpartum bodies as something beautiful, to be admired,” she wrote. “We have a long way to go with eradicating the social stigma around bodies & breastfeeding. I hope this can be a step in the right direction!”
