Holiday scams: Angela Rippon warns of ‘increasing’ hotel scam catching Britons out

Angela Rippon is set to return to screens on January 4 in the newest series of ‘Rip off Britain’ during which she will help holidaymakers though the minefield of travel restrictions in 2021. She has shared an insight into one scam she will be solving in the series which is “increasingly” leaving holidaymakers out of pocket.

She also cited some of the various changes which are likely to cause some confusion for traveller sin 2021.

“We’re going to look at what the face of holidays is going to be in 2021,” she said.

“We will have the effects of COIVD-19 still, the effects of people getting the vaccine and because on the 31 December we are going to have Brexit we are going to have a lot of different rules and regulations covering what we can do on travel.”

Already the Government has issued some guidance on new changes which will impact travel to the EU following the end of the transition period.

“If you do not renew your passport, you may not be able to travel to most EU countries and Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.”

Holidaymakers are also warned of changes which will impact travelling with pets and driving while abroad.

In terms of COVID-19, the landscape is ever-changing, though at present different countries have their own rules and regulations for travel.

Some are banning UK arrivals completely, while others require a coronavirus test upon arrival.

Rip of Britain starts on January 4, 2021, on BBC One.
