Kaley Cuoco Shares Important Instagram Update on Offer to Buy Olympic Horse That Was Punched

Kaley Cuoco is doubling down on her offer to buy the horse that was punched during the Tokyo Olympic Games earlier this month.

Just last week, The Big Bang Theory actress shared a series of passionate Instagram Stories condemning both German athlete Annika Schleu and coach Kim Raisner for the way they treated a horse name Saint Boy during the modern pentathlon on August 6. In a now-viral clip, Kim can be seen punching the horse in the rear and encouraging Annika to “really hit” the animal to gain control. Reports indicate that Saint Boy had refused to jump or trot.

After watching the footage, Kaley wrote on her Instagram Stories: “I feel it’s my duty and heart to comment on this disgrace. This is not Olympic show jumping. This is a disgusting, classless, abusive representation of our sport in so many ways. This team should be ashamed of themselves. You and your team did not do your country proud or this sport. You make us look bad. Shame on you and godspeed to any animal that comes in contact with you.”

The actress, who is also an avid animal rights advocate and equestrian, went on to offer to purchase Saint Boy. “Pure classless behavior right here. Disgusting on all levels. This is not our sport. This does not represent our sport. This rider and her ‘trainer’ are a disgrace. I’ll buy that horse outright and show it the life it should have. Name your price.”

Days later, Kaley one again raised the issue of buying Saint Boy in her Instagram Stories. “Yes still waiting ….. if anyone was wondering,” Kaley wrote alongside the above picture of Annika and Saint Boy. The Flight Attendant star also linked to an article where the pentathlon athlete defended herself against claims of misconduct.

“I did not treat the horse extremely harshly. I had a crop with me that was checked beforehand. Exactly like the spurs. I am really not aware of any cruelty to animals,” she maintained. “I started crying relatively quickly. I was so tense because I realized that the competition could be over before I even started riding. The seconds that passed then felt much longer to me. It was a hopeless, difficult situation for the horse and for me.”

Annika also called out the “hatred” she encountered on social media for her behavior. “Of course it does something to me. It doesn’t feel nice. I did not expect this severe assessment from the outside.”

Despite Annika’s stance, Kaley is reinforcing her desire to purchase and care for the animal. Her husband, Karl Cook, is a horse trainer, and Kaley reportedly owns “at least 25 horses.”

Olympic officials wound up kicking Kim out of the Tokyo Games for the incident. Meanwhile, the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) issued a statement condemning Kim’s actions during the competition.

“UIPM regrets the trauma suffered by Saint Boy in this high-profile incident and has penalized the coach who violated the UIPM Competition Rules by striking the horse from outside the ring.”
