Kate Middleton and William body language sees them 'battle freezing cold' on UK tour

Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, 38, and Prince William, 38, travelled from London to Scotland by train on Sunday for the first leg of their whistlestop royal tour. The couple will travel 1,250 miles across England, Scotland and Wales over three days to thank frontline workers, care home staff and teachers for their efforts during the pandemic.
In a statement about the tour, Kensington Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess are very much looking forward to shining a spotlight on the incredible work that has been done across the country throughout this difficult year.”
On Monday Kate and William braved the cold to meet staff and school pupils in Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
Kensington Palace shared a series of photos from the meeting on Twitter.
Kensington Palace tweeted: “Stepping off at Berwick-Upon-Tweed to meet staff and pupils from Holy Trinity Church of England First School, where The Duke and Duchess celebrated the incredible work of teachers over the past year.”

A body language expert has claimed Kate and William manage to mask their discomfort at the cold by putting on beaming smiles.
Body language expert and author Judi James told Express.co.uk: “They picked one of the coldest days of the year to begin their tour of the UK and that nippy weather is clearly defining the body language of William and Kate here as they meet staff and pupils of a school in Berwick-upon-Tweed.
“Both have the kind of rigidity of posture that comes when you are freezing cold and although Kate has taken off her gloves to attempt a more relaxed-looking clasp of her handbag, William’s tight hand clasp with meshed fingers suggests he’s rubbing his hands together in a bid to keep warm.”
According to Judi, both royals managed to convey enthusiasm at meeting members of the public despite the freezing temperatures.
The expert said: “The couple displayed some almost intimate body language moments as they left London, using touch rituals and standing with their heads tilted together and held close in an intense display of affection, but out on the job here they used their signature body language mirroring to signal their strong and like-minded bonds.”
According to Judi, Kate and William come across “warmer” than other working members of the Royal Family.
The analyst said: “Their smiles here are warmer than the usual royal smiles, involving some slight suppression and puckering to combine with the crinkled eye-smiles to show interest and a desire to share some fun and raise the spirits of the people they are meeting.”
Judi claimed Kate and William’s body language helps them present a united front which is vital to a successful tour.
Judi added: “This twinned enthusiasm would be vital on this important tour.
“Firstly to imprint a sense of empathy and gratitude for the work these people have been doing through the pandemic and secondly because many of the people they will be meeting are likely to have been hanging around in the cold for much longer than the Cambridge’s and will need any warmth they can get.”
Kate and William will return to London later this week.
The couple are understood to have been based at Kensington Palace throughout the second lockdown.
William and Kate may choose to travel to Anmer Hall with Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two, for Christmas.
Unlike most years, they will not mark the holiday at Sandringham as the Queen and Prince Philip are due to remain at Windsor Castle.
