Katie Holmes Shows How to Wear Silky Summer PJs Anywhere

Admit it—we’ve all left the house in our PJs at one point. Some days, you just want to run to the corner store without conjuring up an impeccable outfit. Sue me! But allow Katie Holmes to show that wearing your favorite loungewear can still make for a stylish end result, provided you’re wearing your best silky set. Earlier this week in New York, the actor stepped out in a two-piece set that looked as modern and put-together as it was comfy.

Holmes’s floral button-up top and matching shorts felt decidedly elevated in a silky material. The upbeat, colorful print made it feel like, well, real clothes, regardless of if she ever uses them as pajamas. Turns out, pajamas-as-clothes is a look that’s been trending on the runways recently: Labels like Saint Laurent have taken cues from nightgowns, while MSGM also did breezy, floral two-piece sets. Luxe brands like Olivia von Halle and La Perla also now specialize in PJs that look as good on the street as they do at home.

As for Holmes’s take, her choice of accessories really made the look, however. She paired it with a polished leather Roger Vivier bag, ’70s-style aviators, and patent flats (don’t good shoes always complete the look?). So, the next time you’re feeling lazy and wanting to step out in our PJs, do like Holmes and invest in a set that’s pretty on its own, then pile on the sleek finishing touches. It’s an outfit that works double duty—meaning you look good while you’re out, and can crawl right back into bed when you get home.
