‘Manifest’ Fans Are Demanding to Know Why NBC Canceled the Show
Apparently, NBC decided to pull the plug on the plane mystery drama, which means there will not be a season 4 or anymore new episodes of Manifest on the network. This is especially shocking considering that multiple outlets report Manifest — which stars Melissa Roxburgh and Josh Dallas — recently slid into the number-one spot on Netflix’s list of most-watched shows.
Upon hearing the announcement, fans immediately began expressing their shock and outrage. “Why was Manifest cancelled? @netflix I’m hoping you save this series!! It has trend #1 on your platform!!” one fan said. “It’s so ridiculous they actually cancelled Manifest after those cliffhangers. #SaveManifest,” another tweeted. “@NBCUniversal Excuse me…why is Manifest canceled ????” a different fan inquired.

Likewise, Manifest creator and executive producer Jeff Rake shared his disappointment on Twitter.
“My dear Manifesters, I’m devastated by NBC’s decision to cancel us. That we’ve been shut down in the middle is a gut punch to say the least. Hoping to find a new home. You the fans deserve an ending to your story. Thanks for the love shown to me, cast, and crew. #savemanifest,” he wrote.
So why did NBC cancel Manifest ahead of season 4?
Though it’s hard to pinpoint an exact reason why NBC didn’t renew the series (unless an entertainment executive decides to speak out on the matter), cancelation and renewal decisions usually come down to audience performance and ratings. Looking at Manifest‘s ratings and figures, the average audience viewership has dropped from an average of 6.5 million in season 1 to 3.1 million in season 3. Meanwhile, the ratings average in season 1 was 1.25, which fell all the way down to a .47 by the end of season 3.
Apart from Manifest, fans of NBC’s Debris and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist also received similar cancellation news. That said, sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the studio is “exploring” options at this point to see if Manifest can continue elsewhere. After all, the series was intended to be at least six seasons long.
