Marks & Spencer shares Covid safety measures update for customers as stores reopen


Marks & Spencer has continually updated safety rules in line with government guidance. The retailer has shared an update on the measures in place when stores in England reopen tomorrow.

The retailer has also updated the safety measures in place in stores to observe while Christmas shopping.

Cleaning

The retailer has installed a robust cleaning process in place in all stores.

All branches also have signs in place to encourage shoppers to observe social distancing rules and wear a face covering.

Hand sanitising stations are installed in all stores and will return when stores open with a festive makeover.

Christmas hand sanitising stations will start to appear in stores and will be available in two scents – apple and cinnamon and gingerbread.

Contact-free delivery

Online shopping has become more popular this year as coronavirus guidance continues to change.

M&S will now offer contact-free delivery for those who are shopping online.

Shoppers then pay on the app which means they skip going to a checkout altogether.

M&S Retail operations and property director Sacha Berendji said: “Our store teams have been incredible throughout this time, and this Christmas season they’re stepping up again to keep everyone safe, and to help keep Christmas special.

“After this year, we know customers want to deliver the magic for their loved ones – from the food they love to the perfect thoughtful gift – so we want to play our part to make shopping easier.

“This Christmas, in addition to our extensive hygiene measures, we’re offering our longest-ever opening hours and important new services like ‘Sparks Book and Shop’, whilst still delivering the festive feeling and inspiration customers are after in our shops.”
