Model Meadow Walker on Beauty, Self-Care and the Story of Her Blunt Bob
Your hair has become a bit of a talking point. How did that style evolve?
A lot of people think I was asked to cut my hair, but I’ve had the same hair since 2019. It actually started to grow out during the pandemic, and I wanted to cut it again, but my agents were like, ‘Wait, don’t do anything.’ But I had to go back to my short hair and the darker color. Hair matters more to me than makeup. I feel more confident when my hair is cut this way and dyed, even though that’s not my natural look, which is interesting. I feel more like myself with this haircut. It makes me stand out a lot more, and people comment on it.
What about self-care? How do you take care of yourself mentally and physically?
I’m really into wellness, especially natural holistic medicine. I love acupuncture, yoga and meditation. I work with a healer who practices Chinese medicine and we’re doing breathwork, which is much more difficult than I thought. Eating healthily and what feels best for you is also important. I take really good care of my skin, I like to take baths and I’m into crystals. I grew up with crystals in the house and I actually have my dad’s entire collection, probably more than 30—including massive ones the size of a laptop—in my apartment. I’ve been putting them out in the moonlight and charging them for as long as I can remember.”
You seem to have a remarkable sense of self. What advice would you give to someone who doesn’t feel as confident in their own skin?
People reach out to me on Instagram and ask me this. I usually don’t respond to things, but when it’s something like this I do. Do what makes you feel good about yourself and try to shut out the rest. I’m not the most confident person in the world, but I have to bring myself back to that. If you keep those feelings of insecurity and not feeling confident in your head too long, it becomes so real. It’s good to talk to people, especially with someone you feel comfortable talking to who understands and knows you. They will be able to recognize the things that make you happy and what you like about yourself.
