Primark announces plans for new website – but customers STILL won’t be able to buy online

Primark’s current website shows a preview of its latest items, but it doesn’t give customers full details about what is in stock. Shoppers must instead look at the retailer’s social media accounts to find out more about its most recent clothes collections.

In its latest trading update released this week, Primark announced the plans for its new website.

It said: “The improved functionality of the website will allow us to showcase a much larger proportion of the Primark range and provide to customers range availability by store.”

Additionally, Primark has seen a change in consumer shopping habits since it reopened its stores in April.

Customers are ditching loungewear outfits in favour of smarter clothes.

In its trading update, Primark said: “There has been a strong response to our two hero womenswear ranges for spring/summer, Joyful Gelato and Garden Party, with the pink gingham and purple blazers selling out within weeks supported by digital marketing.”

In the coming weeks and months, Primark also hopes to reopen its changing rooms.

Since reopening non-essential retailers in April, only some shops have decided to allow customers to try on clothes.

Primark is currently testing reopening fitting rooms in 15 locations, before extending this to more stores.

In other Primark news, the retailer has launched a new sustainable collection full of leisurewear essentials.

Each garment is made with a percentage of recycled cotton.

The collection is part of the retailer’s Primark Cares label and pieces start from as little as £3.50.

The garments include hoodies, joggers, jumpers, T-shirts, and leggings in navy, white, black, or grey.
