Sophie, Countess of Wessex ‘looks more relaxed’ when she is ‘working by herself’

Sophie, Countess of Wessex ‘looks more relaxed’ when she is ‘working by herself’

The expert added: “I don’t thing that Sophie was wrong for her time but rather that the time was previously wrong for Sophie.

“She became eclipsed by Diana, Kate and Meghan but suddenly, as the dust clears from all their headline-hitting drama, the public appear to see the value and even to crave a return to a more old-fashioned, reliable and solid brand of royalty.”

“Sophie also represents the kind of ‘flying solo’ style of behaviour that we’ve always seen from the likes of the Queen and Princess Anne.

“She is rarely seen as a professional double act with Edward and when they are together their body language tends to send out more of a family vibe than the kind of ‘royal power couple’ signals that we get from William and Kate and, previously, Harry and Meghan.”

Judi also shared how when Sophie is completing her duties on her own, she looks more “relaxed”.

The expert said: “Sophie looks more relaxed as a royal when she is working by herself and that could partly be because she looks like the rock in her own family unit, using more maternal supportive and encouragement signals to both her husband and her children rather than just appearing as herself.”

On her visit to the Disability Initiative Resource Centre, the royal can be seen laughing and joking as well as getting stuck into baking.

Judi explained: “Sophie’s body language in these poses show a woman able to project ‘calm’, which is a quality that is especially necessary during this pandemic.

“She also manages to appear accessible and down-to-earth, as opposed to some of the more aloof-looking royals.

“One popular way of defining a more down-to-earth form of charisma is what’s called ‘The Lift Test’, as in who would you be happiest getting into a lift with, knowing that you might need to make small-talk.”

According to the body language expert, Sophie is the “least-intimidating” royal who “probably come top in this test”.

When listening to others speak, the royal will also tilt her head to show she is understand and listening.

In another photo, the Countess can be seen with a wide smile as she puts her thumb up.

This isn’t a gesture usually seen by Royal Family members, and may suggest her confidence is growing.

Judi said: “Sophie’s thumbs-up gesture is a colloquial ritual that is symbolic of positivity and enjoyment.”
