Spain: Valencia crowned as top destination to relocate abroad - with Alicante close behind
Britons may be craving a holiday to Spain, after a year of travel restrictions have taken their toll. However, for those looking for more than a holiday, it seems some of the nation’s cities are the perfect place to call home.
However, they pointed out that finding a job had been a struggle.
“It has always been difficult regarding employment,” they said.
Meanwhile, in Alicante, over four out of five expats said they “felt at home” in the city.
The sun-soaked city is also hailed as “a retiree’s paradise”.
“I really like the climate, healthcare, and low monthly costs,” commented one British expat.
Particiapnts were asked to rate 66 global cities based o five aspects of life living abroad.
These include quality of urban life, ease of getting settled, work-life satisfaction, financial security and housing, and cost of living.
Several subcategories were also highlighted, including public transportation, local climate and weather, safety, friendliness of locals, and leisure options.
Portugal’s capital Lisbon came third place in the ranking.
Close to nine in ten expats in Lisbon say they are happy with the local leisure options.
Furthermore, 96 percent of expats in Lisbon said they were satisfied with the local climate and weather.
One respondent, who emigrated to Lisbon from Ireland, said Portugal in general is “a weirdly wonderful country, with plenty of idiosyncrasies but the people are kind, life is relaxed, the food and drink is excellent, and the weather is generally great.”
Other cities to feature in the top ten include Panama City in Panama, Singapore, Buenos Aires in Argentina, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, and Abu Dhabi in the UAE.
