Street Style Obsessed? You Won’t Want to Miss Our New Video Series

We’re big fans of street style. Huge! What’s not to love? Seeing how “real” people dress—as in, folks who aren’t celebrities with full-time stylists!—day to day is both inspiring and fascinating. This past New York Fashion Week, for instance, there were tons of distinctive outfits to behold—many of which were shot by Vogue’s resident street style photographer, Phil Oh. And now, in a brand new video series, Vogue is taking an even closer look at the stories and sentiments behind some of the world’s more eccentric and well-dressed individuals.

The new “Streets of…” video series will spotlight one-of-a-kind style across the globe, moving beyond just the still photographs that we know and love. We’re setting out to learn about what inspires someone’s aesthetic, as well as capture the stories behind how they’ve cultivated their outlook. Think of these videos like moving portraits—capturing not only fashionable subjects, but also the atmosphere and moment in time they’re living in. The series kicks off with a look at the fashion-forward outfits in New York City outside of just fashion week. It’s one of the fashion capitals, after all, not to mention a melting-pot of different cultures, backgrounds, and sartorial sensibilities.

New York’s more eclectic dressers have a serious talent for mixing high and low, and new with vintage. One stylish individual put her twist on a vintage silk scarf gifted by her husband’s grandmother; Another layered an asymmetrical, strappy Knorts top over a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier leopard-print mesh tee. Statement accessories also took the spotlight, with cameos from Mowalola hats, Telfar bags, puffy Camper shoes, and Antoine Manning bags. Another subject, sporting the latter purse in bright yellow, said it best: “There’s nowhere in the world that has style like New York.”
