At just 23, Sydney Sweeney is booked and busy. Following breakout roles in Sharp Objects, Euphoria, and The Handmaid’s Tale, the American actor is back with her latest project: starring as Olivia in HBO Max’s The White Lotus, a new miniseries about a group of guests and employees at a tropical resort in Hawaii. Sweeney co-stars as Olivia, the cynical daughter of Connie Britton and Steve Zahn’s characters, alongside Jennifer Coolidge, Molly Shannon, and more. “It’s the first time I’ve done a dramedy,” Sweeney tells Vogue. “My character is very different. Olivia is kind of crazy: She’s very dry and sarcastic, and a little bit of a bitch.”

Ahead of the show’s big premiere in Los Angeles last week, Sweeney let Vogue tag along as she got ready. Hair stylist Laura Polko set Sweeney’s retro, wavy locks into place while they talked about her breakout role on Euphoria. “I totally forgot to tell my dad about Euphoria,” Sweeney says of the provocative series. “He sat down with my nanna and papa to watch. They never finished the show!” Then, makeup artist Melissa Hernandez applied a soft glam with glowy skin and a red lip, while Sweeney reflected on her success. “My mom and dad worked really hard to get me where I am, and they sacrificed a lot,” says Sweeney. “Now, as I’m getting older and I’m aware more of the world and finances, I can’t believe my parents did everything that they did.”

After makeup, it was time for Sweeney to get into her statement look for the premiere. Stylist Molly Dickson dressed her in a strapless white Prada gown, complete with a black trim at the hem. “I feel like I’m looking at myself from the ‘60s,” says Sweeney of the elegant ensemble. “This is my Breakfast at Tiffany’s dream.” A Prada hair clip and black Christian Louboutin stilettos finished off the look.

Before heading out, Sweeney made time to practice her red carpet poses in front of the mirror—“maybe it’s a little step and over-the-shoulder [moment],” she says—before heading out to the carpet and reuniting with her co-stars. “I’m excited to see everyone all dressed up, because we were all just in our bikinis and beachwear,” says Sweeney. “Now, we’re glam.”
