Piers Morgan has issued a one-word response to Phillip Schofield admitting to having an affair with a much younger ITV colleague in a Twitter post.
The TalkTV host simply wrote “Blimey…,” and added a flushed face emoji, in response to an article containing Phillip’s Daily Mail statement.
It comes after Piers defended Phillip and slammed ITV in his latest column for The Sun.
Following Phillip’s exit from This Morning, Piers wrote: “I don’t know the full story behind Phillip Schofield’s downfall.”
He then admitted he felt “personal empathy with him” due to him not being permitted to say goodbye to This Morning viewers.

“For ITV to not even give him the chance to say a proper goodbye to his large, loyal audience after 21 years struck me as needlessly churlish, and I know he’s utterly heartbroken about it because he told me himself.”
Defending the TV star, Piers wrote: “Phillip’s not the evil monster he’s being painted as, nor is he the angel his previously halo-clad reputation suggested.”
In a statement to the Daily Mail, the star, who quit This Morning earlier this month, said he and the man struck up a relationship which was more than a friendship, something Phillip describes as “unwise but not illegal”.
The relationship with the much younger man took place while Phillip was still married to his wife of 30 years, Stephanie Lowe, who is also mother to his two daughters, Molly and Ruby.
